Dental check-up and clean
No 'free check-up' bait and no hard sell. Just an honest look at your teeth and a straight answer. A regular check-up finds small problems before they become painful or expensive, and a professional clean removes the tartar that brushing cannot. Small problems found early stay small, and cheap.
- Visit length
- About 45 minutes
- How often
- Usually every 6–12 months

Is this right for me?
Every mouth is different. Your dentist will confirm what suits you after an examination.
- It has been more than six months since your last visit
- Your gums bleed when you brush
- You notice hard deposits that will not brush away
- You want fresher breath and a smoother feel
What happens
Check
We examine every tooth, your gums, tongue and soft tissues, and screen for signs of oral cancer.
X-rays if needed
Digital X-rays show decay between teeth and under fillings that cannot be seen by eye.
Scale and clean
We remove tartar above and below the gum line, then polish away stains.
Advice
We show you any areas to focus on at home and tell you when to come back.
Recovery and aftercare
Your teeth may feel a little sensitive for a day after a deep clean. Keep brushing gently. If your gums bled during the clean, regular flossing usually settles them within a couple of weeks.

Been a while?
That is common here, and nobody will judge you. Book a check-up and clean, and leave with a written plan. Anything more waits until you say yes.
Questions about check-up and clean
Clear answers to the questions our patients ask most.
How much is a check-up and clean?
The figure comes after the examination, because what is involved depends on what is found — how much hard deposit there is, and whether X-rays change the answer. You take away a written plan with the sequence and the item numbers for your health fund. HICAPS is on site, so any rebate comes off on the day.
What should I expect at a first appointment?
An examination, any imaging needed, and a written plan you take away. Nothing is decided on the day, and nothing further is booked until you have the plan in front of you.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Recall intervals are set to your circumstances rather than a fixed six months. Some patients are seen more often, some less, based on what the examination shows.
I haven't been to a dentist in years. What happens now?
Years is common and it is not remarkable to us. An examination, images where they are indicated, and a written plan you take away. Nothing gets treated on the day and you set the pace from there. The people who worry most about being judged are almost always the ones with the least to be judged for.
Can I claim my health fund on the day?
Yes. We accept all health funds and claim on the spot with HICAPS, so you only pay the gap. We are not a preferred provider for any fund.
