All-on-4 full arch implants

If you've stopped smiling in photos, or your denture moves when you eat, you're not being vain. You're ready. A full arch of fixed teeth supported by four implants. It replaces a whole upper or lower set of teeth, or a denture, with teeth that stay in. Every year teeth are missing, the jawbone keeps shrinking, and that can make treatment bigger later.

Is this right for me?

Every mouth is different. Your dentist will confirm what suits you after an examination.

  • You have lost most of your teeth in one jaw
  • Your remaining teeth are failing
  • You are tired of a loose denture
  • You want fixed teeth and are in good general health

What happens

  1. Consult and 3D scan

We examine your mouth, take a 3D scan and plan the implant positions and your new teeth.

  2. Surgery

Any failing teeth are removed and four implants placed, often under general anaesthetic in-house.

  3. Temporary teeth

Where the implants are stable enough, a fixed temporary set is fitted soon after surgery.

  4. Final teeth

After healing, we make and fit your final, stronger set of teeth.

Recovery and aftercare

Expect swelling and a soft-food diet for several weeks. Keep the area clean as instructed and do not smoke. Your teeth are cleaned daily at home and professionally at regular reviews.

Questions about all-on-4 implants

Clear, direct answers to help you make informed decisions.

How many implants does a full arch need?

It varies with bone volume and the restoration planned; four to six per arch is common. CBCT imaging at assessment shows what the bone will support, and that is what determines the number rather than a fixed formula.

How is a full arch on implants different from a denture?

A conventional denture rests on the gum and is taken out for cleaning. A full arch on implants is fixed in place and carried by the implants rather than the gum, which changes how it feels when eating and how it is cleaned. Which suits you depends on bone volume, cost and what you want day to day.

Do I leave with teeth on the day of surgery?

In many cases a fixed temporary set is fitted at the time of surgery, so you do not go without teeth. Whether that is appropriate depends on how stable the implants are once placed, which is assessed during the procedure. The final restoration is made later, once healing has settled.

Can full arch treatment be done under general anaesthetic?

Yes. A2ZDental has a specialist anaesthetist attending, with anaesthetically trained staff, so full arch surgery can be completed under GA in one session rather than split across appointments. The anaesthetist's fee is quoted separately by the anaesthetist's office, in addition to the cost of the dental treatment itself.

How long does full arch treatment take from start to finish?

Commonly several months. The implants need time to integrate with the bone before the definitive teeth are made, and a temporary set is usually worn during that period. Your written plan sets out the stages and expected timeframes before you commit to anything.

How do I look after teeth on implants?

They are cleaned daily, with particular attention underneath the bridge where it meets the gum. Regular professional maintenance appointments are part of keeping them healthy long term, and your clinician will show you the technique for your specific restoration.

How long does full arch surgery take?

A single arch commonly takes four to six hours, and treating both arches in one session can run to around eight. That matters for cost as well as planning, because session time is charged hourly. Your surgical plan gives an expected duration before the session is booked.

How much does All-on-X cost per arch in Rockhampton?

The figure comes after the assessment and CBCT imaging. What drives it is how many implants the arch needs and where they can be placed, whether extractions and grafting come first, and the type of final restoration chosen — those vary more between two people than almost anything else in dentistry. You are quoted in writing, per arch, before anything is booked. If you choose treatment under general anaesthetic, the anaesthetist's fee is quoted separately by the anaesthetist's office and is in addition.
