If you’re wondering how to whiten your teeth, you are not alone. Teeth darken as we age, and they can become yellowed and stained from tobacco use, red wine, and coffee and tea. Your dentist offers safe and effective teeth whitening treatments that can whiten and rejuvenate your natural smile.
How to Whiten Your Teeth? – Things to Consider
Your teeth may dull and yellow from age and habits, or they may be darkened from trauma and damage. While baking soda and peroxide are good home remedies, the best way to whiten your teeth is with a professional’s supervision. At A2Z Dental, you’ll need a consultation first to determine your teeth’ health and the level of staining.
If your teeth are darkened because of damage or trauma, teeth whitening may not be the right option. In that case, we can recommend veneers or crowns to restore your white smile. If your teeth and gums are especially sensitive, veneers are an excellent alternative to teeth whitening treatments.
Your teeth and gums need to be in good health before you can receive teeth whitening to ensure the whitening agents don’t aggravate any existing conditions. If you have gum disease or tooth decay, we address these issues before offering whitening treatments.
Teeth whitening treatments do not improve the shades of caps, crowns, bridges, or veneers. We perform teeth whitening before placing crowns, bridges, or veneers to ensure these match your new white shade. Our teeth whitening treatments do not damage any existing dental work.
Teeth Whitening Options
At A2Z dental, we offer two ways to whiten your teeth: In-chair or at home. We use the most trusted industry brands to deliver fast, yet safe teeth whitening treatments. These brands use a specialised bleaching agent of either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, administered with supervision from a trained professional to ensure your gums and mouth are protected.
In-chair Teeth Whitening on Your Lunch Break
With our fast in-chair whitening treatments, we apply a whitening gel to your teeth, using a barrier on your gums to protect them from irritation. We may use a special light on the gel, which activates the whitening agent to penetrate your teeth’s surface stains
Every 15 minutes, we wash the gel off and check the whiteness levels until we’ve reached your desired shade. We repeat this process three times, completing the whitening treatment in under one hour. You can get your teeth whitened on your lunch break from work for ultimate convenience.
At-Home Teeth Whitening
If you prefer to whiten your smile at home, we provide custom kits of hydrogen or carbamide peroxide that can brighten your teeth in two weeks. We custom-mould the trays to your mouth to ensure a perfect fit. You can wear these trays for a short time during the day or while you sleep at night.
